!Help file for DirMenu
The Flying Pig
1.00 (19 April 2003)

Quick Instructions

DirMenu is a small utility that will display the contents of a directory
structure on screen in the form of a menu. Clicking on a file or application
in the menu will run the file, whilst clicking on a directory will open the
directory.

When !DirMenu is first seen by the filer, an aliased command will be setup so
that you can type, for example:

*DirMenu Boot:^

to open the directory containing your !Boot directory. Similarly the
following:

*DirMenu ADFS::4.$

will open the standard root directory of the ADFS hard drive. Entering
*DirMenu without any parameters will open the currently selected directory.
You can see this by running the application by double clicking on it.

The menu will always be opened so that it is below the mouse pointer.

What's it for?

I wrote the program so that it could be used with ButtonBar, to allow buttons
to open up menus containing - for example - bookmarks as URL files. I thought
it might also be useful in other circumstances too, but didn't think about it
enough to actually come up with any examples.

Instead of explaining more carefully how this could be used with ButtonBar
I've provided an example button bar in the Zip archive along with the
program. Hopefully this will make it clear how it was intended to be used,
but if you have any questions feel free to get in contact.
